How to make a lattice tart using TODAY® Original Shortcrust Pastry

Ingredients

  • 1 400g Roll TODAY® Original Shortcrust Pastry
  • 1 Egg, beaten

Instructions

  • Unroll the TODAY® Original Shortcrust Pastry and cut vertically into 1cm thick strips.
  • Place one strip in the center of the tart vertically. Continue this process, but fold back every second strip, ensuring you leave a gap to see the filling between each strip.
  • Place one pastry strip horizontally, below the folded strips of pastry and fold all those pastry strips over that piece, creating a weave. Continue this process with the bottom half of the tart.
  • Repeat this process with the top half of the lattice tart. You should end up with a lovely even weave.
  • Using your fingers, gently press or cut off the remaining edges and seal them to the lined pastry base.
  • Brush with egg and bake at 180°C for 30 minutes.
