Christmas Tree Straws

Ingredients

  • 1 400g TODAY® Original puff pastry, ready rolled
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 100g white cheddar, grated
  • 100g mature cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Hinds Spices Paprika
  • ½ tsp (2.5ml) mustard powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Unroll the TODAY® Original puff pastry and brush with beaten egg.
  • Mix together the grated cheeses, paprika and mustard powder, sprinkle over half of the pastry and fold the other half over the cheese filling. Press down to ensure the pastry and cheese layer stick nicely. Cut into 12 even strips, lenghtways
  • Skewer the end of the pastry strip onto a kebab stick and layer it to make a Christmas tree shape.
  • Using the remaining pastry, cut out 12 stars and skewer onto the end of the tree.
  • Place the pastry trees onto a lined baking tray and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
  • Remove from the oven and serve.
